Tips to Look after your Laptop :-

In India we are now dealing with the second wave of Covid-19 infections and many office employees have been asked to work from home. Then there is the sweltering heat of April and May.This means that employees are adapting to working in an environment that was not designed for working 8 hours a day. For many working professionals, this trend of working from home is unfamiliar. There may be those who do not have air conditioning at home or live in environments where dust is inevitable. It is important that you take good care of your laptop to ensure that it keeps working well.While at office, laptops were mostly in a dust free, safe environment and home will not be the same.Also, at office, there people designated to maintain your laptops on a periodic basis. This may not be possible when you work from home.

Following these easy steps will ensure that your laptop lasts longer and requires less maintenance.As an added bonus, many of the steps will also maintain your laptop’s speed. It is also useful to do a check of the laptop once in a while so as to remove any errors or problems which might have create in during the routine usage.

  • Hold it by its base (ideally with both hands) and not by the display (monitor).
  • Never leave it in or around extreme heat and cold.
  • Keep your computer or laptop in a clean and dust free room.
  • Ensure that the keyboard is clear before closing the display monitor on top of it.
  • Avoid placing heavy materials, such as books, on top of your laptop.
  • Try to keep the laptop on a flat, clean surface.
  • Don’t use your laptop on the bed.
  • Use a disk clean-up to clean the internal and temporary files.
  • Keep food and drink away from it, or may be consider getting an external keyboard and mouse.
  • Try not to use it when pets or young children are moving around the room.
  • Ensure that any cable is inserted into its correct port.
  • Only use and store your laptop in a well-ventilated area.
